Live Independently with Confidence with Westpeak Support Services

At Westpeak Support Services, we work with people across the greater Melbourne area to deliver tailored Supported Independent Living (SIL) programs that empower each participant to live an active and enriched life.

Whether in your own home or a shared environment, we work closely with you, your family, and support networks to understand your unique needs. We support both your NDIS plan goals and personal aspirations—whether that’s community involvement, employment, travel, or anything else important to you. No goal is too big or small.

Our SIL services provide day-to-day living support that fosters independence while assisting where needed. We aim not just to meet but exceed your support needs, helping you build skills and confidence.

Most importantly, we ensure where you live truly feels like home—respecting your choices in your daily routines, how you decorate your living space, and the activities you enjoy.

What is sil?

SIL is a type of NDIS-funded support that helps people with disabilities live more independently, either on their own or in a shared home. SIL provides assistance with everyday tasks such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, medication management, and developing life skills.

It’s not just about practical support—it’s about building confidence, promoting choice, and creating a stable, supportive environment where individuals can thrive. SIL services are tailored to meet each participant’s unique needs and goals, helping them lead a more independent and fulfilling life in a home that feels truly their own.

What Services Are Provided Through Westpeak’s SIL Program?

Our support services are designed to empower participants in their day-to-day lives, while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Our team provides comprehensive, person-centred assistance tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and NDIS goals. Here’s what you can expect from our daily living support.

Cooking & Meal Planning

We support participants with planning and preparing meals that align with their dietary needs, cultural preferences, and personal tastes. Whether it’s assisting with grocery shopping, helping prepare meals together, or supporting participants to build their cooking skills over time, we encourage independence in the kitchen while ensuring nutrition and safety are always a priority.

Cleaning

Maintaining a clean and organised living space is important for comfort and health. Our staff assist with general household cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and tidying common areas. We also support participants to develop their own routines and take part in home care tasks, at a pace that suits them.

Assistance with Personal Care & Hygiene

We provide respectful, discreet support with personal care activities including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other hygiene needs. Support is always delivered in a way that protects dignity, promotes choice, and encourages participants to do as much for themselves as they are comfortable with.

Community Engagement

Social connection and participation in the community are vital to wellbeing. We support participants to engage with community activities that reflect their interests and goals—whether it’s joining a local class, attending social events, visiting friends and family, or simply getting out and about. We also help build confidence in using public spaces and services.

Support to Attend Appointments

Our team can assist participants in preparing for and attending medical, allied health, or other important appointments. This may include helping with scheduling, transport, and ensuring accurate communication between the participant and the service provider. We can also help follow up on any actions or health-related instructions afterwards.

Medication Management & Support

Westpeak staff are trained to assist with safe medication management, following approved procedures for administering, prompting, or supervising medication according to the participant’s care plan. We work closely with participants, families, and health professionals to ensure medications are taken safely and correctly.

Advocacy

We’re committed to upholding the rights of every participant. Our staff can help advocate on your behalf—whether that’s communicating with service providers, resolving concerns, or supporting you to understand and exercise your rights within the NDIS. We stand alongside participants to ensure their voice is heard and respected.

Transport

Getting where you need to go is a key part of living independently. Westpeak provides transport support for everyday needs such as attending appointments, shopping, social outings, or community activities. Whether it’s using our vehicles or supporting you to use public transport safely, we’ll work with you to find the most suitable option.

Can You Go Into Participants’ Homes to Provide Support?

Yes, we can. At Westpeak Support Services, we offer flexible SIL support to suit a range of living arrangements. This includes providing support within our own SIL Accommodation locations, in a participant’s private home, or in a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) owned by another provider.

Whether you’re living independently, sharing a home, or looking for supported housing options, we’ll work with you to ensure your support is delivered in a way that aligns with your preferences, goals, and NDIS plan.

Wherever possible, we tailor our approach to how and where you want to receive your support—because your comfort and choice come first.

How are individual support plans developed and reviewed for each participant?

We take a collaborative and person-centred approach to developing every support plan. We work closely with each participant and their team of supporters—such as Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and Speech Therapists—to create care plans that are current, detailed, and tailored to individual needs.

These plans guide our team in delivering consistent, high-quality support that not only meets but strives to exceed expectations. As needs evolve, we remain proactive and responsive—communicating with allied health professionals, Support Coordinators, and informal supports to ensure any changes are understood and addressed promptly. This ongoing review process helps us deliver the most effective, compassionate, and personalised support possible.

Qualifications, Training, and Participant Safety at Westpeak Support Services

We are committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and person-centred care—and that starts with having a skilled and qualified team. All of our Disability Support Workers are required to hold a qualification in Disability or a related field, along with the necessary clearances, including a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and up-to-date First Aid and CPR certifications.

Many of our staff also bring additional qualifications and specialised experience, enabling them to support participants with higher or more complex needs—such as behaviours of concern, complex physical health, or mental health support.

Beyond the minimum requirements, we provide ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure our team can meet the evolving needs of participants. When a participant has a specific support requirement—such as PEG or tube feeding, manual handling, or administering medications—staff receive targeted training to safely and confidently deliver that care. This responsive, tailored approach ensures that each participant is supported by workers who are not only qualified, but also properly prepared to meet their unique needs with competence and compassion.
